Salvation...Summarized and Simplified
There is probably no better way to summarize and simplfy what the Bible says about being “saved” than what has been called “The Roman Road”. The Roman Road is a string of scriptures, all found in the Book of Romans, by which we can help people understand and receive the essential gift of Salvation.
-
Romans 3:23 - Our Sin
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
We all are sinners and fall short of God's perfect standard.
We've all broken God's moral code found in the 10 commandments -
Romans 3:10 - Our Inability
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
We are utterly powerless in ourselves to be righteous before God.
It's simply not in us to please God.
Without faith it's impossible to please God. -
Romans 6:23a - Our Penalty
For the wages of sin is death;
Spiritual, physical and eternal death -
Romans 5:8 - Our Mercy
But God commended his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Our merciful provision is Christ's substitution. He died FOR us. -
Romans 6:23 - Our Gift
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Jesus paid for the gift with his life and blood. -
Romans 10:9-10, 13 - Our Response
Many have complained about the Roman Road for it's omission of “repentance” as a necessary element in our salvation.
Repentance is found here in the Lordship of Jesus. -
Romans 5:1 - Our Result
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
Justified = Declared not guilty. “Just as if I'd never sinned!”
