The Gospel Truth about Giving
Some people speak negatively about churches and ministries that…
Ask for donations.
Teach the concepts of tithing and giving.
...but there are some things which they must not understand.
True worship includes Giving to God.
Psalm 96:7-9
2 Chronicles 29:27-29
Exodus 34:20b NIV-“No one is to appear before me empty-handed.”
The ministry of Jesus is funded through the Giving of God’s people.
Luke 8:1-3
No one can condemn the Church of Jesus for receiving donations without also condemning Jesus himself!
Without Giving, there would be no churches and without churches, the world will not be reached for Jesus.
Mark 16:15
Ministry costs money.
The gospel is free but the means by which it is conveyed is never free.
(Buildings, utilities, salaries, missionary expenses, equipment, transportation, publicity, projects, events, seminars, schools, colleges, radio and television time, food, literature, etc. all cost money.)
No other institution on the planet is devoted to reaching the world for Jesus Christ.
The Giving of past generations brought the gospel to our generation.
Without giving, our generation won’t be reached.
Then the next generation will not be reached.
Then the next generation will not be reached.
We must do for future generations what was done for ours!
Giving connects a believer with God’s financial blessing.
2 Corinthians 9:6-10 NKJ
“But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. As it is written:
He has dispersed abroad,
He has given to the poor;
His righteousness endures forever.”
Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness”
Malachi 3:10
Luke 6:38
God does wants to bless you.
By giving to God, you will never have less but will always have more.
A person’s Giving reveals their heart.
Exodus 35:5 ESV
“Take from among you a contribution to the Lord. Whoever is of a generous heart, let him bring the Lord’s contribution; gold, silver and bronze.”
An open hand reveals an open heart.
A closed hand reveals a closed heart.
A generous giver has a generous heart.
An ungenerous giver has an ungenerous heart.
