Jeremiah 29:11-13
Seeking the Lord
Finding God and experiencing his presence is so rich, empowering, transforming.
The greatest part of being a Child of God is to know God and to experience his presence.
Isaiah 59:1-2
Sin hides God's face from us. Just as Adam and Eve hid themselves from God's presence (face, countenance) when they sinned, sin drives us from God's presence.
But Jesus did something about our separation from God's presence.
Ephesians 2:13 TLB
...now you belong to Christ, and though you once were far away from God, now you have been brought very near to him because of what Jesus...has done for you with his blood.
Colossians 1:20-22 TLB
It was through what his Son did that God cleared a path for everything to come to him...for Christ's death on the cross has made peace with God for all by his blood. This includes you who were once so far away from God. You were his enemies and hated him and were separated from him...yet now he has brought you back as his friends...Christ has brought you into the very presence of God, and you are standing there before him with nothing left against you – nothing left that he could even scold you for...
So, now we live in God's presence and can experience God. His face shines upon us.
His Holy Spirit is with us.
Benefits of God's presence.
Psalm 16:11 - Brings Fullness of Joy and Eternal Pleasures
Psalm 68:1-2 - Destroys Wickedness and Sin
Psalm 68:8 - Moves Heaven and Earth
Isaiah 55:6
The idea of “seeking” is that God is available and can be found!
He is near! Christ's blood made him near and findable!
“Seek” = to resort to (to frequent a place)
to pray or worship
to enquire (consult)
to require (to make a demand on his power)
