Kings And Priests IV

Passage: Revelation 1:5-6

Kings and Priests 4

Revelation 1:5-6
In our personal lives, we are all Kings and Priests, Winners and Worshippers.
In our church lives, we gravitate to the function of Kings or Priests.
Priests impart Vision.  Kings impart Provision (of resources, finances, gifting, service, relationships.)
We are Servants.
We are Stewards. (taking care of another’s assets as if it were your own.)
Priests are stewards of the vision.
Kings are stewards of the provision.
Stewards understand that they’ll be taken care of by their masters!
We’re living for purpose, not pleasure.
Our purpose is to bear much fruit…whether Kings or Priests!

The Heart of a Steward…
(Moving from ownership to stewardship)
Moving from ownership to stewardship moves you from slavery to freedom.
(freedom from things, from poverty mentality, from lack, from covetousness, from self focus, from selfishness, from fear

1 Chronicles 28:1
King David is addressing the princes, captains, stewards, officers, warriors, leaders, movers, shakers…
1 Chronicles 29:1
David called the Temple a “palace”
(A King was building a palace for the King of Kings!)
We are Kings building a palace for the King of Kings and
Priests casting the vision for the Great High Priest!

Verse 2
Heb. = “Now I have made provision for the house of my God”
Kings impart provision!!

David said, “I have prepared with all my might for the house”
“might” = capacity, ability, strength, substance, wealth
David was in, committed, 100%, total commitment!

2 Samuel 24:24-25
David refused to give anything to God that didn’t cost him.
Too many Believers want a Jesus that doesn’t cost them anything!

1 Chronicles 29:3-5a
Moreover…”I have set my affection to the house of my God”
David had a heart for God’s house.
(It’s all through the Psalms)
(Ps. 92:13-14 Those that be planted in the house…flourish, fruitful)

No one can make a person have a heart for God and his house.  It’s a decision.
In verse 2 David gave what was evidently Kingdom funds(success in the nation…business, company.
In verse 3 David gave out of his personal wealth. (his household) 1.2 Billion dollars (10 yrs ago)

1 Chronicles 29:5b
Amp. = Who will offer willingly to fill his hand [and consecrate it] today to the Lord [like one consecrating himself to the priesthood]?
1 Chronicles 29:6-8
Theycame with 1.8 billion dollars.

1 Chronicles 29:9
“willingly” = free voluntary desire of the heart.
They also had a heart for the house of God!
Notice that giving to God’s house from your heart…produces Great Joy!

1 Chronicles 29:10-12
Riches and Honor come from God.
In other words, God gives riches and honor!
God wants the church to be rich…to be abundantly provided for, resourced and equipped.
Why?
So that when we get ready to help the poor, feed the hungry, preach the gospel, plant a church, do a crusade….we can do it!
We won’t have to beg the world for it.
We won’t have to borrow it
We won’t have to manipulate our people for it.
It is in God’s hand to make great (to promote)
1 Chronicles 29:13-14
How are we able to do this?
We understand that all things come from God…and God owns everything we give him.

God is the owner.
(He didn’t relinquish ownership when he gave it to us.)
We are only the stewards!

They had moved from ownership…to stewardship.

From immaturity…to maturity.
Children have the “that’s mine” mentality!
Adults have the “provide” mentality!

Our life is not ours.  It’s His.
Our things are not ours.  They’re His.
Our money isn’t our money.  It’s His.
We’re simply stewards and managers…living a life of purpose!

1Chronicles 29:15-19
King David died soon after leaving the Kingdom to Solomon and the provision to the House of his God!
David overcame his “pleasure” focus in the latter part of his life and dedicated himself to “purpose”!
He came to understand that he was a steward of his life and resources instead of the owner!  Will We?
