Kings and Priests Part 1
Revelation 1:5-6
God has made US to be KINGS and PRIESTS unto God!
It is very important that we as believers understand who we are.
Except we come to understand who we are, we can never hope to do what we are to do or live as we should live!
Today, realize that being a born again child of God…You are a King and you are a Priest!
Let’s look into the significance of this discovery. (Let’s first consider being a priest.)
What does it mean that we are PRIESTS?
A Priest is one who mediates and officiates in religious services.
A priest stands in a sacred office, standing between God and people, connecting them in prayer, ministry or worship.
The Old Testament Priests offered sacrifices and prayers to God and represented God to the people.
But the N.T. declares that all of God’s people are now priests!
1 Peter 2:5, 9-10
The Priesthood of all Believers is a foundational concept of Protestantism.
Martin Luther wrote and argued eloquently for this truth in the early 1500’s.
Lutherans, Methodists, Plymouth Brethren and Baptists all strongly asserted this precious truth.
They argued that there are not two classes in the church, one spiritual and the other carnal, but that we are all spiritual and that we all can approach God ourselves!
There is only one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus! (1 Tim. 2:5)
Every believer is directly connected with God.
Every believer can pray directly to God.
Every believer can confess directly to God.
Every believer is sacred, an officiant and a mediator in religious service.
We are all called to minister and serve.
We are all worshippers who worship in spirit and in truth!
What does it mean that we are KINGS?
A King governs and reigns.
The N.T. declares that believers are to govern and reign in life!
Romans 5:17
(The Amplified Bible says…much more surely will those who receive [God's] overflowing grace… and the free gift of righteousness…reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ.)
Rom. 8:27 …we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
1 Cor. 15:57…thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Jn. 5:4 …this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.
You wouldn’t train and educate your son or daughter for failure.
An employer wouldn’t hire an employee and then hope that they failed.
You wouldn’t coach a football team by preparing them to lose games and go for last place.
You wouldn’t fund and train an army if you wanted them to lose the war
Why would God desire or cause you to lose in life?
God told Joshua to stay true to his Word and lead the Israelites into their inheritance, prosperity and success!
God wants you to be a Winner!
Genesis 1:26, 28
God’s first gift to Adam was dominion.
Dominion is the right and power to govern and control.
The desire to achieve, accomplish, get ahead, increase, improve, invent, re-design, order, arrange, lead, affect, influence, climb, build, increase, prosper and promote comes from God!
(Religious tradition teaches us to sit down, settle down and stay down. Just accept and be content with what you have.)
But God’s Word says to reach for change, victory, accomplishment and achievement and for miracles!
God has a purpose for your life…and it isn’t to fail!
God has called us to be Kings and Priests!
Winners and Worshippers of God!
