tribulation (thliplis) = to be pressed, pressure, oppression, affliction, distress, straits, trouble

overcome (nikao) = to conquer, to get victory over (from nike' = victory)

1 John 5:1-5

I AM AN OVERCOMER

We are not alone! We are overcomers!

Overcoming is on the inside of You!

World (kosmos) =

  • The world system, order, arrangement (the way the world is and works)

  • The world itself (the planet, life in this world)

  • The inhabitants of the world (people, the human family)

  • The ungodly multitude (the whole mass of men who are alienated from God and hostile to the cause of Christ)

  • World affairs (all earthly goods, endowments, riches, advantages, pleasures)

God has made us overcomers over all of this!

 As Overcomers we are taught to overcome evil!

Romans 12:21 Be not overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good.

We are given keys to overcoming Satan in 1 John.

1 John 2:14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.

There are many promises made to World Overcomers in the Book of Revelation!

Revelation 2:7 To him that overcomes will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in midst of the paradise of God.

Revelation 2:11 He that overcomes shall not be hurt of the second death.

Revelation 2:17 To him that overcomes will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receives it.

Revelation 2:26 He that overcomes and keeps my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations.

Revelation 3:5 He that overcomes...shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Revelation 3:12 Him that overcomes will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem which comes down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

Revelation 3:21 To him that overcomes will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

Revelation 21:7 He that overcomes shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
