Passage: Luke 23:33-46
FROM DEATH TO LIFE!
Luke 23:33-38, 44-46
When Jesus died on the cross…
He died for the entire human race, for every person and for every persons’ sin.
Jesus paid the legal price, the divine debt of our sins.
Jesus became our Substitute, bearing our judgment, our condemnation, our penalty.
Jesus poured out his blood to cleanse our sin, absolve our guilt and expunge our record.
Jesus died our death…and if He died our death…Then our death died with him.
And if our death died at the Cross…
Then our life began at the resurrection!
Luke 24:1-6
Why seek ye the living…among the dead?
Jesus wasn’t in the tomb…
He had… Come FROM DEATH TO LIFE!
This is the message of Christianity…not death, but life!
The Great Theme of the Christian Faith is about coming From Death to Life!
John 5:24
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that hears my word, and believes on Him that sent me, has everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed FROM DEATH TO LIFE.
1 John 3:14
We know that we have passed FROM DEATH TO LIFE, because we love the brethren.
The central truth and message of Christianity is that there is hope…an expectation…the potential…of going FROM DEATH TO LIFE!
It is seen throughout Jesus’ earthly ministry…as he healed, delivered, forgave and restored peoples’ lives! (One day Jesus’ congregation thought lunch was dead…but Jesus brought it to life again when he multiplied 5 loaves and 2 fishes and fed 5000 people!)
And who can forget Jesus bringing his friend Lazarus FROM DEATH TO LIFE with three spoken words… “Lazarus, Come forth!
Jesus prepared Lazarus’ sister Martha for that miracle by saying, “I am the resurrection and the life: he that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.”
Then, in His resurrection, Jesus showed, proved and demonstrated once for all that such is possible!
Jesus can take us FROM DEATH TO LIFE!
(Whatever you may have that’s dead…Jesus can bring it to life!)
Let’s stop seeking the living among the dead and begin expecting the dead to become the living!

from poverty to prosperity
from turmoil to peace
from judgment to mercy
from condemnation to salvation
from sinfulness to righteousness
from cursing to blessing
from the natural course of this world to the supernatural lifestyle that God has promised to every one of us!
