We Dare to Dream …Define the Dream …Keep the Dream

You must Keep the Dream…as long as it takes to see it come true.

Genesis 37:2-20 KJV
•    Use wisdom in sharing your dreams.
•    Not everyone will appreciate or believe in your dreams.
•    Some will feel “put down” by your dreams.
•    Even those who love you most will question your dreams.
•    Some of those you share your dreams with will speak and act against your dreams.

Joseph’s brothers didn’t kill him.  They sold him to a band of Ishmeelites, traveling traders who sold him to Potiphar, one of Pharoah’s officers in Egypt.
•    Joseph served as overseer of Potiphar’s house until his wife told a vicious lie about him.
•    Then Joseph was put in Prison where he was quickly put in charge because of his faithful service.
•    Later, when Joseph interpreted dreams for his cell mates and finally for Pharoah himself, He was put in charge of Egypt’s Economic Department and made Ruler over all of Egypt, second only to Pharoah.
•    Jacob and Josephs eleven brothers ultimately came and bowed down before Joseph seeking to buy grain during the time of famine.

From the time Joseph dreamed his dream until it came true was 13 years!
He went from the Pit, to Potiphar’s house, to Prison, to the Palace.  But it took 13 years.
For 13 years he kept the Dream in his heart, obeyed God and remained faithful to what God told him.

Abram dreamed of having a child at 75.  He had the child at 100.
Abram kept his dream for 25 years…before it came true.

Moses dreamed of freeing his people at 40.  He was sent to liberate his people at 80.
Moses kept his dream for 40 years…before it came to pass.

David was anointed to be King at around 17.He became King at 30
David kept his dream for 13 years…before it came to pass.
“Great it is to dream the dream,
when you stand in youth by the starry stream.
But a greater thing is to fight life through,
And say at the end, the dream is true.”

Keeping the Dream!
How do we keep our dream alive?

1. Tell it.
Use wisdom.  Tell God and tell those who will agree.

2. Write it.
Habakkuk 2:2-3 NKJV
Write the vision and make it plain on tablets,  That he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come,

3. Pray it.
The Holy Spirit inspired it and the Holy Spirit will bring it to pass.

4. Plan it.
Every great work is the result of a good plan.
Joseph’s plan was to serve his way into his dream.
He served his father, Potiphar, the Prison Keeper, his fellow inmates, and Pharaoh by creating a financial plan.

5. Remain Faithful to God in it.
Without discipline, dreams die.
Paul mentioned Demas, a minister who had let the dream die by loving this present world. (2 Tim.)

6. Move toward it.
Faith requires action.
Do whatever it takes to move toward your dream.

7. Plant Seeds toward it.
•    Giving is connected to your dream coming true.
•    Dream God’s dream with him and he’ll dream your dream with you.
•    Victory Church has a God given dream to reach Honduras with the gospel. (We sow into other Ministry dreams…missionaries, churches, Honduran people)
•    Seeds sown toward that God given dream will help you to harvest your own God given dream.
