Kings and Priests(3)
Revelation 1:5-6
All of us are Kings and Priests in our personal lives of faith.
We are Winners and Worshippers.
In the church, some function primarily as Priests…others as Kings.
In the OT, Kings and Priests partnered together for the good of the Kingdom.
Today, Kings and Priests partner together for the cause of Jesus Christ, of his Church and for the advancement of the Kingdom of God.
The fulfilling of your calling to be Kings will require Biblical knowledge and spiritual wisdom.
Wisdom for Kings…You must,
Recognize your Purpose.
The primary church function of the Priest is to impart vision but the Kings primary function is to impart Provision.
We are not here by accident!
God saw you and I here this morning millions of years ago.
You and I have a purpose here.
Your life is not yours. It’s His!
When we realize that…it changes how we think, how we talk, how we act, how we live!
Realize that God wants you to Prosper.
We have said that your primary function is to impart provision for the vision…Therefore it is God’s will that you are blessed… so that you can bless!
Your are called to bless his Kingdom, the Nations and people… with your finances, gifts, creativity, ideas and service.
God must prosper and increase you in order to accomplish that. (He doesn’t bless or prosper you just to prosper you.)
He prospers you for a purpose!
So that you can exercise dominion as a King!
Never replace Purpose with Pleasure.
2 Samuel 11:1-4a
Don’t be foolish…Act like a King!
Kings go to battle!
David tarried (stayed, sat down) in Jerusalem.
He lost his focus on purpose and set it on pleasure.
(Distracted Kings fall into many kinds of sin, self pity, self indulgence, addictions, depression, fears, bouts of mid-life crisis…etc)
Kings are…
empowered for the battle
anointed to conquer
appointed to take and share the spoils.
Don’t miss the exciting fulfillment of advancing God’s Kingdom!
Respect the Priests office.
Priests and Kings need each other.
Priests must recognize that they need Kings.
(If Kings don’t impart Provision for the Vision, some Priests make the mistake of trying to generate their own provision. They often fall into false teachings, weird revelations, gimmicks, and harmful manipulations trying to provide provision for the vision.)
Kings must also recognize that they need Priests.
I must respect your role and function in the Church.
(And I do!)
You must respect my role and function.
(Kings often don’t respect Priests assuming that they are the Wimps or the Hypocrites that they have been portrayed to be!)
Kings often don’t realize their great need of Vision to be spoken into their life!
King Jehoshaphat had an enemy so huge, he couldn’t defeat them. Yet he did!
How? He believed the vision spoken by the prophet/priest/pastor.
2 Chronicles 20:15, 20
People must trust their pastor in order for the 2 offices of Kings and Priests to function and bear fruit together. (Likewise the pastor must be able to trust the people to provide.)
Kings shouldn’t try to control their Priests.
Priests shouldn’t try to control their Kings.
(A house divided against its self cannot stand!)
We here to work together, fulfilling our distinct roles of ministry, bear fruit together, and advance the Kingdom of God together!
Matthew 25:14-15
Accept your role as a Servant.
Understand your call to Stewardship.
Stewardship is taking care of the assets of another as if they were your own.
Stewards are managers of God’s resources.
Why should you see yourself as Stewards?
Because there is a purpose in what God gives you.
(God gives to people according to their individual ability…their power to function and achieve.)
Because we are accountable to God.
(There is a day of reckoning.)
Matthew 25:16-29
What is a Talent = Money/Gold (1 talent worth 2 million
dollars)God called five talents (10 million $) a few things.
Money is for Movement. (investing, giving, providing, producing)
God rewards success!
God removes resources from the fearful and slothful… (the things that keep a King from Conquering) (slothful= tardy, hesitant, late, lazy)
Then he gives it to those who are good and faithful to produce with it.
Plus, at the day of reckoning they will hear…
”Well done thou good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of the Lord!”
