Interceding for Others

 1 Timothy 2:1-8

Intercession = a falling in with, a meeting with. (The intercessor actually meets with the person he's praying with in the spirit)

To intercede is to pray for others...but in a way that falls in with them, or gets in agreement with what they need.

Paul teaches us to intercede for all people, for Kings, for those in authority.

  • We intercede for people to be saved.
  • We intercede for governmental leaders.
  • We intercede for spiritual leaders.
  • We intercede for people to win victory in and over their troubles.

Mark 11:22-24

So, how can you pray when you really don't know all the issues and don't have total authority in the situation?

1. Pray that God's Kingdom Come

Matthew 6:9-10

Kingdom = rule, realm, royalty (of God)
come = come, arrive, appear
Pray for God's kingdom to manifest bringing God's will to pass.

2. Pray for God's Illumination

2 Corinthians 4:1-7

Pray for God's illumination of truth from his word and from within their born again spirit be brought to bear.

Ephesians 2:15-21

Pray that through God's enlightenment they may come to know God's expectation of them, their inheritance and the greatness of God's power...
So they can make good and proper decisions.

3. Pray in the Spirit

1 Corinthians 14:2, 14

Romans 8:26-27

The Holy Spirit knows EVERYTHING about the people you're praying for and about their situation.
Trust him to do what's needed.
