I AM The Church
1 Corinthians 12:27
Now you are the body of Christ.
Ephesians 1:22-23
And (God) put all things under His (Christ's) feet and gave him be be head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fulness of Him who fills all in all.
Jesus is in every single one of us! We are the Church...and you can say...I AM THE CHURCH!
So, We don't just go to Church...or have Church.
We are the Church!
We are the Church...even when we're not at church!
Jesus said that there's more to Church than just having church when he gathered with his followers for the very last time before ascending to Heaven.
Matthew 28:16-20
Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. And when they saw him, they worshiped him: but some doubted. And Jesus came and spake unto them saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.
Marks Gospel says it like this...
”Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.
The Church is not just the Church when we're in Church.
The Church is the Church when we leave this Church service and live our lives out in the World!
We are called to help, heal, lift, impact, influence and love people!
We must be the Church...in the World!
Now, it's also true that we learn to be the church...at church. Jesus taught his disciples how to be the church. God has given us church leaders to teach us to be the church.
Ephesians 4:1-6 NLT
Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other's faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit binding yourselves together with peace.. For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father, who is over all and in all and living through all.
Ephesians 4:11-12 NLT
Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God's people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.
We are the Church.
So, let's be equipped to be the Church.
We are equipped as we worship, pray, give, learn, train and serve together....as we get involved!
