ANGRY BIRDS Part 2
Anger Management
God gets angry.
Romans 1:18
God's anger is a just reaction to evil.
God is perfect. His anger is never misguided. He properly manifests anger.
Jesus got angry.
When Jesus became angry (as when he cleansed the temple of its thieves) there was no self-interest involved.
His anger was holy, focused on unrighteousness and rebellion to God.
When he was personally abused, he didn't say anything
1 Peter 2:23 NLT
Jesus could become angry...but only for God's honor.
We however, often get angry when someone offends us personally...but remain silent when sin is exalted and God is dishonored.
Ephesians 4:21-32 NLT
In Verse 26 We're told 2 things about anger.
-
Anger must be controlled.
-
Anger must be dispelled.
There are 2 kinds of anger or wrath mentioned in this passage.
-
Thumos ...a sudden outburst of passionate anger
-
Orge ...anger or wrath that is a more settled or abiding condition of the mind
Thumos is when people “blow up” with anger.
Orge is when people “bottle up” their anger.
Romans 12:1-2
Our lives are transformed as we...
-
Present our bodies
-
Renew our minds
As we study scripture, worship, pray, serve...
The Christian faith is not so much about not doing things... as it is about doing things.
Study the word, meditate on it, pray, reflect, listen to God, serve, fellowship....
Paul also gave us some specific and practical things to do in order to replace anger in our lives!
Ephesians 4:31-32
-
Be Kind (good, mild, pleasant, benevolent)
-
Be Tenderhearted (compassionate)
-
Forgive (to forgive graciously and freely)
-
Just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
