“A New Glimpse of Jesus”
by David Brown
This week our Victory family began 40 Days of Discovery...in our new interactive “New Year New You” Series. (You can go to www.evictorychurch.org to get the details.)
During these next 40 days we will (among other things) be reading from nine New Testament books together, the first one being the Gospel of Mark. Our goal in prayerfully reading Mark is to catch “A New Glimpse of Jesus”!
Let me pose a question. Is it possible that in all our religion, all our church activity, our years in Sunday School as children and the years we've attended church as adults...that we somehow have missed something about Jesus?
The correct and humble answer would be “yes”. It is possible.
So, I have invited our church family to join me in taking another look at Jesus this week. Let's study his demeanor. Let's look at his attitudes, His habits, His lifestyle. Let's listen again to his words. What can we discover about Jesus...that's new and fresh? What can we learn about him that we've never known.
And how can that discovery make us better? Or make Him bigger to us?
Faith is not just about what you know and believe.
It's about what you're coming to know...and what you are being challenged by God to believe now!
God is focused on your present. Your past is gone. It's your present he's involved in.
The future He's fashioning for you will grow out of your present.
So...Let's discover something new now!
It's a quest. A pilgrimage. A faith journey.
Welcome!
