Next Steps
by Pastor David Brown

When Jesus invites us to come and follow him...he is inviting us on a journey.
The Christian life is a journey, a quest...a walk with Jesus.
It is following Jesus...along with others who follow him too.
This is called discipleship.
So what is the function or purpose of discipleship?
Or a better question is...why do we need church?
Well...
No child is born walking.
No child of God can walk immediately upon being born again either.
A child needs parents, siblings, someone to watch over them as they learn to walk.
So it is with a Christian. This is a primary function of Church.
The purpose of Church is to help people in their walk with Jesus.
Together, we are all following Jesus down the road of life. Here at Victory, we believe it's
a road to victory and significance. It's the path to being all we can be in Jesus...by his power and grace.
People need to know what the next step is after they become a Christian.
This is church.
They need to be informed on enough steps...to get the idea...to begin their journey.
This is church.
People need to know how to walk, where to walk, where not to walk...and what to do if they stumble along the way.
This is church.
Then they need to help others take their first steps.
This is church too.
What is church?
It's simply a bunch of folks...following Jesus together.
Sweet!
