Family Info: I've got three beautiful and godly daughters. My oldest, Nicki is married to Bodie Gregory and they have a son, Crosse David (who incidentally was named after me...and the greatest event of human history!). Nicki and Bodie serve the Lord here at Victory in volunteer ministries. Jessi, my middle daughter is married to Brian Gibson. They pastor River City Church in Owensboro, Kentucky and have a daughter Brileigh, and a son, Justice. God is tremendously blessing their ministry. River City Church is a fast growing ministry which is shaking their region! Lacey, my youngest, recently moved to Nashville, Tennessee where she is pursuing her music career. She was a top 12 contestant on American Idol Season 9 which has launched her into the music world where she is both thrilling audiences and being a great witness for the Lord Jesus!
Why Victory? The Lord began speaking to my heart in 1982 about moving to a larger city while I was pastoring in a small town in Nebraska. Soon after, the pastor who originally discipled me in Spirit filled life and ministry called and asked me to pray about an opportunity in Amarillo, a young church whose pastor had recently resigned. The Lord began witnessing to my heart that this church was to be my new ministry headquarters. It was difficult to leave my first church and people that I deeply loved, but I obeyed and began serving here in February of 1983. What a blessing these past 27 years have been! God has never told me to leave. So, here I remain!
What is your role at Victory? My primary role is to be the visionary leader of this great church family! I am constantly inspired by God's dream for Victory Church and by the willingness of our people to serve and bring God's dream to pass. Teaching God's Word, helping people learn to live in victory, prayer and leading leaders are my primary functions.
If you were an animal what would you be? I think....let's see....a cheetah. Because I love to move fast!
Favorite Restaurant? I have so many favorites. Amarillo is a great restaurant town. Hmmm, I have to be careful here because we have restaurant owners and managers that go to church here. Ok, I'll just be honest and transparent. At the present time, my favorite is Famous Dave's Barbecue. I love their various barbecue sauce choices. I have to give an honorable mention to Oscar's Burritos though. I eat there more than I do Famous Dave's. Get the Carne Guisada plate. Mmmmmm.
What's the greatest invention in the last 50 years? Either Twitter or TiVo...or smart phones...or all three! TiVo is the only way I can keep up with television I want to see. I'm just too busy to sit in front of the TV all of the time. I love twitter though too. It's a great source of wisdom. I love my twitter friends. Oh...and then there is the Bible online! The YouVersion APP is a great way to read and study the bible on your smart phone. I use it all the time...every day.
What is your favorite place on earth? A good, exciting, Holy Spirit saturated Church service! There is no substitute for being in God's presence with God's people. I think anyone who doesn't love a great church service is just missing it!
What makes you laugh? Friends.
If you could have any super power what would it be? I have one actually. It's described in the Bible in Acts 1:8! Look it up. You can have it too.
