Our Story

The History of Victory Church
Victory Church first opened it's doors in 1981 as Tascosa Church in Amarillo, TX. The new church had a rough start: losing the lease on its first building, changing its name to Amarillo Christian Center and finally losing its first pastor just months later. It would become evident in time, however, that God had a destiny for this small group of people.

In February of 1983, David and Connie Brown became the pastors of this congregation and a fresh direction of ministry began to emerge. In June of 1983 another Amarillo Church decided to disband and give their large building and christian school to Amarillo Christian Center.

For the next 13 years, lives were changed, hearts were mended and the vision of the church grew at the 9th and Alta Vista Campus. Then, in 1989, the name was changed to Victory Church. The new name reflected the congregation's developing vision; believing that through faith in God's love people could experience Victory in every area of life.

In the late 80's, the growing church realized it would need a larger facility. After 8 years of prayer, fund raising and a huge leap of faith, a new 37,000 square foot facility was constructed at 6300 Arden Road.

A lot has changed over the years but the message is still the same. Victory church is here to "Love God and Love People" teaching them to have Victory in life and connecting them with greatness.

Our volunteer ministries have been the core of Victory Church, enabling it to grow and meet the needs of people. Victory has been built on people with servants' hearts; people helping people. We wouldn't have been able to do it without the loving people who sacrifice their time to make Victory happen.

For more than 25 years, God has used Pastors David and Connie and the people of Victory Church to reach out to the Amarillo community with love and kindness. We have seen God do many miraculous things in the lives of people who have come through the doors, or have been touched through the many outreaches. Victory Church has and will always be committed to helping people achieve Victory in life.
